About the U.S. Marine Corps Aviation VMGR-352 Detachment BRAVO

The U.S. Marine Corps Aviation Detachment VMGR-352 Det Bravo is a highly specialized tactical aviation element operating under Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352 (famously known as the “Raiders”). Home-based at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar but frequently deployed on a global scale, Det Bravo provides critical logistical, mobility, and combat support for the USMC, joint military forces, and international allies.

Flying the versatile and battle-tested KC-130J Super Hercules, VMGR-352 Detachment Bravo executes a wide spectrum of mission-essential operations. Their primary capability is tactical aerial refueling for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, a vital function that ensures Marine strike fighters and transport helicopters can significantly extend their operational reach in hostile or remote regions. Beyond mid-air refueling, Det Bravo is a powerhouse for assault support, conducting the rapid airborne delivery of combat troops, heavy equipment, and vital cargo to austere, forward-operating bases.

The multi-role nature of this USMC aviation detachment extends even further. Their KC-130J aircraft can be specially configured for battlefield illumination, rapid medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), and multi-sensor imagery reconnaissance, proving indispensable during complex expeditionary operations.

Whether directly supporting a Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) or responding rapidly to global contingency operations, VMGR-352 Det Bravo exemplifies the highest standards of military aviation readiness. Carrying the squadron’s long-standing legacy of being “Proven in Combat,” Detachment Bravo stands as a critical cornerstone of United States Marine Corps aviation mobility, global power projection, and sustained tactical excellence.
